About
Keep Columbus Beautiful inspires, educates and engage the citizens of Columbus to take
action daily in improving and beautifying their communities.
Keep Columbus Beautiful is a non-profit organization formed as an affiliate of
Keep Mississippi Beautiful in 1995 and is devoted to litter pickup and prevention,
recycling waste, beautifying our community, and educating people of all ages.
Mission: Our mission is empowering the citizens of Columbus to keep our communities clean and
beautiful by educating them on the importance of litter prevention, recycling, and
beautification in order to improve the quality of life and their environment.
What We Do
Education
One of the most effective ways to preventing litter is educating citizens about it. Through our Young and the Wasteless program, we work closely with teachers and youth organizations to educate students about litter prevention, beautification, recycling and greening communities. With our Stop It Don’t Drop It campaign, we promote and educate citizens on ways to prevent litter and the various resources available for recycling waste.
Community Outreach
Columbus is a beautiful place. Through our Keep it Green, Clean, and Beautiful program and other projects, we work with volunteers to green the communities with trees and flowers, paint lines on the streets and we provide trash cans in the downtown area. Through our Adopt-A-Area programs, various organizations adopt an area or street to clean up.
Volunteering
We are passionate about keeping our communities clean and free of litter. We work with other organizations and volunteers to pick up litter and prevent it through clean-up projects and education. Our Clean-Up Columbus campaign is one of the many programs we have in place to pick up litter, tires, household appliances and furniture in all 6 wards.
Our Partners
We work together with Golden Triangle Waste Service, Waste Pro, businesses and communities to increase awareness and opportunities for recycling waste. We host 2 hazardous material collections days with the City of Columbus, volunteers, and other organizations.
Get Involved
Volunteering to clean up and beautifying the community is not only beneficial to the community but it is beneficial to the volunteer. While dedicating time in picking up litter, greening and beautifying the communities, volunteers get the opportunity to meet new people who share the same vision for improving the environment in which they live.
